Tips for the Middle Lane

  • Ward the side bushes if you can afford it. Protect yourself against the enemy jungller.
  • Take advantage if you push your lane too hard. Every chance you get to steal the enemy Wraith camps, you go for it. Counter-jungling will slow down their jungler and give your team that much of an advantage. Do this if you have pushed your minion wave well past the middle line and can safely steal it. Bonus: More gold for you.
  • Don’t hesitate to recall back to base. If your minion wave is pushed, return to base and snag additional items for your champion.
  • Gank outer lanes. The middle lane can reach the top or bottom lanes easily to help defend or secure ganks. If you attempt to make a play to the side lanes, signal your jungler to help you protect your lane or push it as hard as you can.
  • Get that blue buff. Most junglers benefit from having the first two blue buffs in a match. Some can get by without any. Ask your jungler to see how soon they can secure the blue golem buff for you to increase your firepower.
  • Help your jungler. When your team begins contesting Dragon, push your lane hard and head down to help them. Either apply DPS to the Dragon or be a mobile ward and spot for enemy champions attempting to challenge your team for it.
  • Don’t get caught. Most AP champions tend to be quite squishy.
  • Do not mindlessly spam your abilities (Unless you are confident of a kill).

As I am not the best AP middle champion, what other suggestions and tips would you make for those looking to master that lane?

I can't stress your last point enough. ALWAYS keep enough mana to both a) retreat and b) score a kill. Never leave yourself cursing over running oom when you could have got the kill or saved your life. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*Also remember that you don't need to use your full combos at all until they are at that 'sweet spot' of HP where you know a combo will kill them. That said, EFFICIENTLY harass them down low enough (for example on leblanc, just q them every once in a while to get them low, saving your full burst for that sweet moment). ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*As Morgana I don't even pool minions until I know that the pool can take them out fully; it's a waste of my mana that could otherwise be used for crucial shields and/or binds. I autoattack for last hits until I get lvl 3 of my pool. (For the most part). ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*I'd also like to add a neat little movement trick when trying to juke or get harass: not sure if any of you have ever noticed but if you start advancing on an opponent, and they suddenly turn to run away from you, as SOON as you turn to 'back off' guess what happens? 90% of the time they ALSO turn back.... so use that advantage to get that yardage you need to land your ability. It's cat and mouse, so just fake like you are running away, only to immediately turn back and hit them because you know they will turn around as soon as you do. Sounds super easy but it is overlooked sometimes and super effective. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*Finally, BAIT SKILL SHOTS. Know what your opponent can do, and bait their shots! I fought an ezreal and kennen the other day who could not land a skill shot for the life of them... I would purposely place myself in a position that screams "hit me" then side step it gracefully when I saw it coming.
