Lane Freezing, Removing of Free Champions in Ranked, and E-Sports

Climbed my way back up to 4 digit ELO. Had a superb ranked game last night playing Sona with an overall record of 6/0/6 before the opposing team surrendered. It seems my Sona games go incredibly well or ridiculously bad. It’s hard to make a direct impact in engagements. It’s why I’m not the biggest fan of support because I prefer trying to make things happening instead of relying on my team to generate chances.

For LoL to succeed as an esport, there must be a careful balance in money distribution.  In Starcraft, Korean teams used to not send players due to the cost in travel not offsetting the possible reward.  Then SC grew some more and prize pools got bigger and the risk/reward ratio moved.  That's where it's at for LoL right now.  As the major players emerged in SC, the prize pools went up.  That threshold is probably coming soon since organizers are going to want to capitalize on the publicity of Season 2 championships.
